Empowering you with knowledge for better care

Welcome to Smart MRI; your health and comfort are our top priorities. We understand that undergoing an MRI scan can be a new experience for many, and we are here to guide you through every step of the process. Below, you'll find essential information to help you prepare for your visit and understand what to expect.

What is an MRI?

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a safe and non-invasive diagnostic tool that uses powerful magnets and radio waves to create detailed images of the inside of your body. MRI scans are crucial for diagnosing a wide range of medical conditions, from injuries to chronic diseases.

Preparing for Your MRI Scan

  • Appointment Scheduling: Once you schedule an appointment with us, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the necessary details. If you need to reschedule, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Clothing and Accessories: Wear comfortable clothing without metal zippers or buttons. You may be asked to change into a gown for the scan. Remove all jewelry, watches, and any metallic accessories before the scan.
  • Diet and Medication: In most cases, you can eat and take your medications as usual. However, for certain types of MRI scans, you may need to fast for a few hours. Our staff will provide specific instructions if needed.
  • Medical History: Inform us of any medical implants, pacemakers, or metal fragments in your body. These can interfere with the MRI scan and need to be assessed beforehand.

During the MRI Scan

  • Arrival and Check-In: Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete any necessary paperwork and prepare for your scan.
  • Scan Procedure: You will lie down on a cushioned table that slides into the MRI machine. The procedure is painless, but you will need to stay still to ensure clear images. The scan typically takes 30 to 60 minutes.
  • Comfort and Communication: Our MRI machines are designed with patient comfort in mind. You will have a panic button to communicate with the technologist if you feel uncomfortable at any time. We also provide earplugs or headphones to reduce the noise from the machine.

After the MRI Scan

  • Results: Once your scan is complete, our radiologists will analyze the images and prepare a detailed report. Your doctor will receive the results within a few days and will discuss them with you during your follow-up appointment.
  • Follow-Up: If you have any questions or concerns after your scan, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are here to assist you with any follow-up care you may need.
